Position Overview:

Greenville ISD is seeking an energetic and student-centered Physical Education Aide to assist with the implementation of the elementary physical education program. This position supports student participation, promotes healthy lifestyles, and helps maintain a safe and engaging learning environment during physical education activities.

Primary

Purpose:

Assist the Physical Education Teacher in providing students with opportunities to develop physical fitness, motor skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy habits while maintaining a safe and structured environment.

Qualifications:

Education and Certification:
High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree or college hours preferred. Completion of the Para Skills Course through STEDI.org required (District paid). Special Knowledge and

Skills:

Knowledge of age-appropriate physical activities and student supervision practices. Ability to work effectively with elementary-aged students. Ability to assist with organizing and implementing physical education activities. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain a safe and structured environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Experience:

Experience working with children preferred. Experience in a school setting, youth sports, recreation, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Support:
Assist the Physical Education Teacher with daily physical education activities and lessons. Help prepare equipment and materials for instructional activities. Support student participation and engagement during physical education classes. Reinforce teacher instructions and expectations during activities and games. Student Supervision and Safety:
Supervise students during physical education classes and related activities. Assist with maintaining a safe, organized, and positive learning environment. Monitor student behavior and reinforce campus and classroom expectations. Assist with ensuring proper use and care of equipment. Report injuries, safety concerns, or student issues to the Physical Education Teacher or administration. Equipment and Facility Support:
Assist with setup, organization, inventory, and storage of physical education equipment. Help maintain cleanliness and organization of gymnasiums, fields, and activity areas. Inspect equipment and report repair or replacement needs. Collaboration and Communication:
Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and campus staff. Support campus wellness initiatives and special events as assigned. Communicate professionally with students and staff. Professional Responsibilities:
Participate in required district and campus training. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain confidentiality regarding student and district information. Perform other duties as assigned by the Physical Education Teacher or campus administration.

Supervise students during physical education classes and related activities.

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands:
Frequent standing, walking, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting. Ability to lift and move physical education equipment and supplies. Environmental Factors:
Work in gymnasiums, outdoor activity areas, playgrounds, and campus facilities. Exposure to varying weather conditions during outdoor activities. Mental Demands:
Ability to supervise groups of students in active settings. Maintain emotional control and professionalism in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage multiple student needs and activities simultaneously.
