GISD Teacher Aide​/Paraprofessional

Elementary Instructional Aide

Greenville Independent School District is seeking dependable and student-focused Elementary Instructional Aides to support classroom instruction and daily campus operations. This position assists teachers in creating a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment that supports student success.

Primary

Purpose:

Assist the classroom teacher with instructional support, classroom management, and administrative tasks to promote student learning and achievement in accordance with district and campus expectations.

Qualifications:

• Education / Certification:
  High school diploma or GED required
• Ability to obtain a Texas Educational Aide Certificate (certification may be obtained through the District)
• Completion of the Para Skills Course through STEDI.org (course will be purchased by the District)

Special Knowledge /

Skills:

• Ability to work effectively with elementary-aged students
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow teacher direction and work collaboratively with staff
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Experience:

• Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred

Major

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Instructional Support:
  Assist teachers with preparing instructional materials and classroom activities
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce academic skills
• Support classroom routines, centers, and instructional activities
• Assist with administering and scoring assignments or assessments as directed
• Student Supervision & Support:
  Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, and arrival/dismissal as assigned
• Reinforce classroom expectations and positive behavior
• Communicate student concerns or needs to the teacher
• Classroom & Administrative Support:
  Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
• Assist with copying, filing, and organizing instructional materials
• Provide support to substitute teachers as needed
• Professional Responsibilities:
  Participate in staff development and campus meetings as assigned
• Support campus events and activities as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by campus administration

Physical Demands:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and light lifting of classroom materials

Mental Demands:
Ability to maintain patience and emotional control in a busy elementary environment
