Position Overview Greenville ISD is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Career and Technical Education Health Science Teacher to provide engaging instruction that prepares middle school students for future careers in the healthcare field. This position introduces students to health science concepts, career pathways, workplace skills, and industry-related knowledge while supporting academic growth and career readiness.
Primary Purpose Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in Health Science that foster career awareness, technical skill development, leadership, and college and career readiness in alignment with district curriculum and the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
Qualifications Education and Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required Valid Texas teaching certificate required Appropriate Career and Technical Education certification required or ability to obtain certification as required by TEA Must meet all TEA certification and assignment requirements Special Knowledge and
Skills:
Knowledge of health science careers, medical terminology, healthcare systems, and industry practices Knowledge of middle school instructional strategies and student engagement techniques Ability to integrate career readiness and workforce skills into instruction Strong classroom management and instructional skills Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to serve as a positive role model for students Knowledge of instructional technology and career exploration resources
Experience:
Experience in healthcare, health science, or a related field preferred Teaching experience preferred Experience working with middle school students preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties Instruction and Curriculum Plan and deliver instruction aligned with TEKS and district curriculum for Health Science courses Introduce students to healthcare careers, medical terminology, anatomy, wellness, and related topics Incorporate hands-on learning experiences and career exploration activities Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs Assess student progress and provide feedback to support growth and achievement Career Readiness and Student Development Promote college, career, and military readiness through career awareness activities Support development of workplace readiness skills, leadership, teamwork, and professionalism Encourage student participation in Career and Technical Education opportunities and student organizations as appropriate Help students explore career pathways within the healthcare industry Classroom Environment Maintain a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment Promote student responsibility, participation, and academic success Reinforce appropriate student behavior and expectations Collaboration and Communication Work collaboratively with campus administration, counselors, teachers, and district staff Communicate effectively with students, parents, and stakeholders regarding student progress Participate in PLCs, professional development, and campus meetings Professional Responsibilities Maintain accurate records and documentation as required Follow district safety protocols and procedures Participate in professional development and industry-related training opportunities Support campus and district initiatives Perform other duties as assigned by campus administration Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise students during classroom instruction and related instructional activities Working Conditions Physical Demands:
