Secondary Science Curriculum Coordinator

Greenville Independent School District is seeking a knowledgeable and collaborative Secondary Science Curriculum Coordinator to provide leadership and support for science curriculum and instruction across secondary campuses. This position works closely with campus leaders and teachers to ensure alignment, rigor, and effective implementation of the district's instructional program.

Primary

Purpose:

Provide curriculum leadership, instructional support, and professional learning to enhance teaching and learning in secondary science. Ensure curriculum, instruction, and assessments are aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and district goals to improve student achievement.

Qualifications:

  • Education / Certification:
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required. Master's degree preferred. Valid Texas teaching certificate. Appropriate secondary science certification preferred.
  • Special Knowledge /

    Skills:

    Knowledge of curriculum design, alignment, and instructional best practices. Ability to analyze data and evaluate instructional effectiveness. Ability to develop and deliver professional development for adult learners. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of TEKS, assessment systems, and instructional frameworks.
  • Experience:

    Minimum of five years of teaching experience preferred. Leadership or instructional coaching experience preferred.

Major

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Curriculum & Instruction Leadership:
    Lead the development, revision, and implementation of secondary science curriculum. Ensure alignment of curriculum, pacing guides, and assessments with TEKS and district expectations. Create and maintain high-quality curriculum resources, including pacing guides and instructional tools. Support implementation of district instructional initiatives.
  • Assessment & Data Analysis:
    Support development and implementation of curriculum-based assessments. Analyze student performance data to evaluate program effectiveness. Provide recommendations for instructional improvement based on data.
  • Coaching & Campus Support:
    Work collaboratively with campus principals, instructional leaders, and teachers. Provide instructional coaching, model effective teaching strategies, and support classroom implementation. Facilitate collaborative planning sessions with teachers. Serve as a content-area expert and resource for secondary science.
  • Professional Development:
    Design, coordinate, and deliver professional learning aligned with district goals. Share current research and best practices in science instruction. Support teacher development through ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Program Support & Operations:
    Support instructional materials selection and usage. Assist with planning and coordination of testing programs for assigned content area. Contribute to budget planning related to instructional resources. Maintain curriculum documents, reports, and program records.
  • Communication &

    Collaboration:

    Communicate effectively with staff, administrators, and stakeholders. Support campus and district initiatives.

    Occasional travel between campuses and district locations.
  • Mental Demands:
    Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Maintain emotional control and professionalism under pressure. Work occasional extended or irregular hours.
