Middle School ELAR / Special Education Teacher Greenville ISD Position Overview
Greenville ISD is seeking a highly qualified Middle School ELAR / Special Education Teacher to provide effective English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) instruction and specialized services to students receiving special education support. The ideal candidate is committed to inclusive practices, collaboration, and meeting the diverse learning needs of middle school students.
Primary PurposePlan and deliver high-quality ELAR instruction while implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with Texas Education Agency (TEA), Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and district requirements.
Qualifications Education / Certification:- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements, including:
- ELAR (Grades 4–8 or appropriate certification)
- Special Education certification
- Must meet all TEA certification and assignment requirements
Skills:
- Knowledge of TEKS, ELAR curriculum, and evidence‑based instructional practices
- Strong understanding of special education law, IEP development, and implementation
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learning needs
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, service providers, and families
- Middle school teaching experience preferred
- Experience working with students receiving special education services preferred
- Plan and deliver ELAR instruction aligned with TEKS and district curriculum
- Implement and monitor IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications
- Use data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Maintain accurate and timely special education documentation in compliance with TEA and IDEA
- Participate in ARD/IEP meetings and collaborate with the ARD committee
- Ensure instructional and service delivery compliance
- Establish a positive, structured learning environment
- Support students' academic, behavioral, and social‑emotional needs
- Communicate regularly with parents and campus staff
- Collaborate with campus and district staff to support student success
- Participate in professional development, PLCs, and faculty meetings
- Comply with all district and campus policies and procedures
- Frequent standing, walking, and use of instructional technology
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and maintain emotional control
- Make a meaningful impact with students through inclusive instruction
- Work in a supportive, collaborative campus environment
