Special Education Diagnostician
Greenville ISD is seeking a knowledgeable and collaborative Special Education Diagnostician to support student achievement through comprehensive evaluations, data-driven decision making, and collaboration with educators and families. The Diagnostician is responsible for conducting multidisciplinary evaluations, interpreting assessment data, determining eligibility for special education services, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting equitable educational opportunities for all students.

Purpose:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations for students referred for special education services to determine eligibility and educational needs.
- Collaborate with campus staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop appropriate educational plans that support student success while ensuring compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Texas Education Agency regulations, and district policies.
Qualifications:
- Education and Certification:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university. Valid Texas Educational Diagnostician Certificate required. Must meet all Texas Education Agency certification and assignment requirements. - Special Knowledge and
Skills:
Thorough knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and procedures. Knowledge of evaluation methods, assessment instruments, and interpretation of assessment data. Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Section 504, and Texas Education Agency regulations. Ability to administer and interpret formal and informal assessments. Ability to analyze educational, behavioral, cognitive, and developmental data. Knowledge of Individualized Education Program development and implementation.
Strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, educators, parents, and outside agencies. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment. - Experience:
Experience conducting educational evaluations preferred. Experience working with students receiving special education services preferred.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assessment and Evaluation:
Conduct comprehensive evaluations for students referred for special education services using a variety of formal and informal assessment measures. Select, administer, score, and interpret assessment instruments to determine eligibility for special education services. Evaluate students in the areas of cognitive ability, academic achievement, adaptive behavior, developmental functioning, and other areas as appropriate. Review educational records, medical information, intervention data, and other relevant documentation as part of the evaluation process.
Prepare comprehensive written evaluation reports that clearly communicate assessment findings and educational recommendations. - Eligibility and Individualized Education Program Support:
Participate as a member of the Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee to determine eligibility for special education services. Assist in developing Individualized Education Programs that address students' identified needs. Provide assessment results and recommendations to parents, educators, and campus administrators in a clear and understandable manner. Support reevaluations and ongoing progress monitoring in accordance with state and federal timelines. - Consultation and
Collaboration:
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, related service providers, school psychologists, speech language pathologists, and other specialists to support student success. Provide consultation regarding instructional strategies, accommodations, modifications, and intervention planning. Support campus staff in understanding assessment data and implementing appropriate instructional recommendations. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians throughout the evaluation process. - Compliance and Records Management:
Ensure all evaluations, reports, and eligibility determinations comply with federal, state, and district requirements. Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely student records and documentation. Monitor evaluation timelines and ensure compliance with required deadlines. Assist with district monitoring activities, audits, and compliance reviews as requested.
Professional Responsibilities:
Participate in professional development to remain current on assessment practices, legal requirements, and best practices in special education. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Support campus and district initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
