Required Skills & Experience- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or related Engineering discipline from an accredited university
- 6+ years of aircraft mechanical engineering experience with a strong emphasis on structural design
- Proven experience designing primary and secondary aircraft structures for fixed‑wing aircraft
- Advanced proficiency using Siemens NX for 3D modeling and released 2D engineering drawings
- Hands‑on experience designing detail parts, assemblies, and installations supporting aircraft modification programs
- Working knowledge of aircraft loads and load paths and how they influence structural design decisions
- Strong understanding of metallic aircraft materials and manufacturing processes (including multi‑axis machining)
- Experience creating installation drawings and supporting designs through manufacturing and installation
- Knowledge of Teamcenter PLM software
- Skilled in application of GDT principles
- Experience with Bombardier, Gulfstream or similar OEM aircrafts
An employer in the Greenville, TX market is looking for 2 Heavy Structures Mechanical Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will apply engineering design principles and knowledge to develop external and internal aircraft heavy structures designs to include detail parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft modifications and mission equipment installations. Candidates will show an ability to develop innovative solutions to challenging design constraints, a willingness to take on new systems and engineering designs, a drive to identify and mitigate possible downstream obstacles, and offer customers unique solutions allowing the team to maintain a competitive edge.
This position is focused on significant external modifications of a business jet platform by employing metallic structure and composite structure design.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Design, model and draft structural engineering drawings for metallic designs to include heavy machined parts such as frames and bulkheads as well as sheet metal for aircraft OML modification
- Lead junior engineers in the development of heavy structure engineering
- Participate in research, development of layouts, and preparation of engineering
- Coordinate design activities with various departments, such as Tool Design, Stress, Flight Sciences, and Production, to ensure that designs meet requirements at minimum cost
- Ensure design success of the modification from the initial concept, through the design phase, manufacturing, completion of the installation, and into future expansion and support
$50/hr to $85/hr exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
