Harris is seeking qualified individuals to join our Aeronautical Systems Engineering team as a Dynamics Engineer. In this role, you will perform aeroelastic and dynamic load analyses including frequency response and modal analysis of modifications to primary and secondary aircraft structure, including systems and components. Tasks will include determination of dynamic mass and stiffness characteristics, participation in flight test programs to collect and reduce dynamic data, develop vibration spectra, evaluate flutter characteristics, and determine acoustic profiles.
This lead position requires the candidate to support complex aircraft structural modification programs with minimal direction.
- Calculate natural frequencies and estimate mode shapes.
- Generate loads for structural analysis that account for transient response and dynamic stiffness for impact analysis, aircraft ditching, shock, and vibration.
- Conduct flutter analysis.
- Support ground and flight testing.
- Prepare analytical reports, test plans, and test reports to document the airworthiness of major aircraft modifications.
- Apply advanced principles, theories, concepts, and techniques in vibration, acoustics, and shock analysis and testing.
- Analyze dynamics environment, specify requirements, and test in support of aircraft design and modification.
- Familiarity with FAA and military aircraft airworthiness certification processes and requirements.
- Experience with Finite Element Modeling in MSC Nastran.
- Proficiency in MS Office and one programming language.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD clearance.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years of relevant aircraft dynamics experience.
- Graduate Degree with two (2) years of relevant aircraft dynamics experience.
