Structural Engineer – Concrete & Precast (Heavy Civil / Bridge Construction)

Metric is partnered with a growing heavy civil contractor seeking a Structural Engineer with expertise in concrete and precast systems to support major bridge and infrastructure projects.

This is an opportunity to join a rapidly expanding construction division where you will play a key role in the design, analysis, and execution of structural concrete systems supporting complex bridge construction operations. The position offers strong technical ownership, direct collaboration with field operations, and long-term leadership growth potential.

• Design cast-in-place concrete foundations, pedestals, abutments, retaining walls, and related structural elements
• Design and review precast concrete components and connection systems
• Perform structural calculations for anchor systems, embedments, and steel-to-concrete connections
• Analyze structural load paths and interface conditions
• Ensure compliance with applicable ACI, PCI, and relevant structural design codes

• Perform structural analysis for both temporary and permanent loading conditions
• Evaluate crane loads and installation-related structural impacts
• Develop reinforcement detailing and embed layouts
• Prepare and review engineering calculations and documentation packages
• Provide stamped calculations where required

• Collaborate closely with project management, fabrication, and field construction teams
• Participate in drawing reviews and constructability discussions
• Identify installation risks and propose practical engineering solutions
• Support field operations with technical guidance during construction activities
• Conduct occasional site visits to assess structural conditions and installation progress
• Assist in developing engineering standards and best practices
• Recommend improvements to recurring field or constructability challenges
• Support process improvements across the engineering and construction teams

Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• 5+ years of structural concrete design experience
• Experience with cast-in-place and precast concrete systems
• Strong understanding of anchor systems, embeds, and concrete connections
• Proficiency with structural analysis software
• Working knowledge of ACI and PCI standards

• PE license
• Bridge or heavy civil construction experience
• Experience supporting field construction or installation operations

• Strong structural engineering and analytical capabilities
• Practical understanding of construction sequencing and field execution
