Overview

GTN is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to serve as an on‑site technical authority for electrical maintenance, reliability, troubleshooting, and operational support within a large‑scale mission‑critical infrastructure environment in Spartanburg, SC.

This role supports the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of electrical infrastructure across a high‑availability data center / HPC environment. The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will provide hands‑on technical leadership across MV/LV power distribution, UPS systems, switch gear, generators, protective relays, electrical safety, procedure execution, and maintenance readiness.

The ideal candidate brings deep electrical systems experience from a data center, industrial, utility, power generation, or mission‑critical environment and is comfortable supporting shift‑based operations, live‑site troubleshooting, equipment reliability, commissioning support, and incident response.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the on‑site electrical maintenance and operations SME for MV/LV distribution, UPS systems, switch gear, generators, breakers, transformers, relays, and related infrastructure
  • Provide technical direction during switching, energization, restoration, troubleshooting, maintenance activities, and abnormal operating conditions
  • Monitor electrical system performance, identify reliability concerns, and support corrective action planning
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults, alarms, equipment failures, control issues, and operational deviations
  • Support commissioning, startup, acceptance testing, equipment turnover, and transition‑to‑operations activities
  • Partner with Operations, Mechanical, Controls, Liquid Cooling, Energy Station, Safety, and Maintenance teams to support continuous site uptime
  • Help develop, review, and improve MOPs, SOPs, EOPs, LOTO plans, switching procedures, and maintenance documentation
  • Mentor operators, technicians, and maintenance personnel on electrical systems, safe work practices, and operating procedures
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 70 / 70E, OSHA, LOTO, arc‑flash, energized work, and site EHS standards
  • Maintain accurate shift logs, equipment status updates, maintenance notes, event documentation, and handover records
  • Support incident response, root cause analysis, and long‑term reliability improvements for critical electrical systems
Required Experience
  • 8+ years of MV/LV electrical systems experience in data centers, industrial facilities, utilities, power generation, or mission‑critical environments
  • Strong hands‑on knowledge of switch gear, UPS systems, generators, relays, breakers, transformers, electrical distribution, and protective devices
  • Experience supporting high‑availability, 24x7, uptime‑sensitive operating environments
  • Ability to read and interpret single‑line diagrams, electrical schematics, control logic diagrams, and technical drawings
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety, LOTO, arc‑flash requirements, energized work controls, and safe switching practices
  • Experience supporting electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, startup, commissioning, switching, and incident response activities
  • Ability to provide calm technical leadership during high‑pressure operational events
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train, mentor, and coordinate across technical teams
Preferred Experience
  • Data center, hyperscale, HPC, semiconductor, utility, power plant, or large industrial facility background
  • Experience with MOPs, SOPs, EOPs, CMMS platforms, and shift‑based maintenance / operations environments
  • Exposure to on‑site generation, substations, MV distribution, integrated power systems, or energy infrastructure
  • Familiarity with SCADA, BMS, EPMS, DCIM, or related monitoring and control platforms
  • Electrical license, journeyman/master electrician, NETA certification, or related technical certifications preferred
