Electrical Senior/Principal Engineer
Salary: $60–$75 per hour
Location:
Greenville, SC — Onsite (Must be local or relocate prior to start)
Work Schedule:
4-10s, Monday–Thursday
Clearance: Q Clearance preferred; must be able to obtain and maintain DOE “Q” clearance

- A minimum of 10 years of electrical design engineering experience
, preferably in the nuclear, DOE, federal, chemical process, or heavy industrial environment. - Experience performing electrical system calculations using ETAP or similar electrical analysis software
. - Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards, including NEC, IES, NFPA, IEEE, OSHA
, and DOE-related requirements. - The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.

In this role, you will provide electrical engineering and design expertise for complex facility projects, helping deliver safe, compliant, cost-effective, and technically accurate engineering solutions.
- Your work will support mission-critical infrastructure, operational reliability, modernization initiatives, and project execution across DOE, nuclear, federal, and industrial facilities. This posting combines key requirements from the uploaded Electrical Design Engineer format and Fluor electrical engineering/design descriptions, including electrical design drawings, system studies, calculations, field support, quality compliance, and EPC project execution responsibilities.
- Provide design engineering staff augmentation support for electrical engineering and design projects.
- Perform engineering analysis, design development, construction support, and field walkdowns.
- Define scope of technical work and develop effective engineering solutions to complex technical challenges.
- Generate, prepare, modify, review, and check electrical design deliverables, including:
- Electrical equipment lists
- Control schematics and connection diagrams
- Electrical equipment specifications
- Bulk material specifications
- Circuit, raceway, wiring, and connection designs
- Perform and support electrical calculations, including:
- Arc flash incident energy analysis
- Load flow analysis
- Relay coordination
- Cable pulling tension
- Electrical system sizing calculations
- Panel board, breaker, junction box, raceway, and wire sizing
- Support complex electrical system studies such as stability, motor starting, harmonics, relay coordination, and ground grid analysis.
- Develop and review specifications, design criteria, system descriptions, construction documents, and other technical deliverables.
- Interpret and apply national, state, local, federal, DOE, and customer design requirements.
- Coordinate technical issues with project management, other engineering disciplines, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
- Execute work in compliance with project quality plans, approved procedures, scope, cost, and schedule baselines.
- Provide technical support for procurement and subcontracting activities, including scopes of work, technical bid evaluations, and vendor submittal reviews.
- Provide construction administration support, including responses to RFIs, field changes, construction support issues, and design updates.
- Perform bulk material takeoffs, quantity tracking, analysis, and reporting as needed.
- Develop schedules, monitor progress, support budgets, and review quality of work performed.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, designers, and technical staff.
- Communicate technical results and recommendations to customers, colleagues, and management.
- Perform field walkdowns, including navigating construction environments, uneven terrain, extended walking distances, ladder climbing, and use of protective clothing when required.
- Stay current with applicable engineering technologies, codes, standards, and methodologies.
