Operations Manager
A well-established mechanical contractor with a strong presence across the southeastern United States is seeking to expand its project leadership team. YourRole:
As the Project Executive, you will provide senior-level oversight across a portfolio of major MEP projects spanning mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and piping scopes. This role requires a strong operational leader with full P&L accountability who can manage complex multi-trade programs from contract through closeout while developing the project managers and field leaders around them. You will serve as a primary point of contact for GC and owner relationships while working closely with construction and operations leadership to drive portfolio performance.
What You’ll Do:- Own P&L for a portfolio of flagship MEP projects across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and piping scopes
- Lead project teams through full lifecycle: contract negotiation, buyout, mobilization, execution, change management, and closeout
- Drive on-time, on-budget, on-spec delivery across industrial, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, data center, and large commercial sectors
- Establish and enforce project controls, schedule discipline, and labor productivity standards
- Serve as executive face of the company to GCs, owners, design teams, and key stakeholders
- Lead executive-level meetings, recovery conversations, and contract negotiations when issues elevate
- Own monthly cost projections, percent complete reviews, and WIP discipline
- Lead, coach, and develop Project Managers, APMs, and field leadership
- Partner with estimating and business development on strategic pursuits
- Contribute to the operational roadmap supporting a high-growth trajectory
- 10+ years of progressive experience in commercial construction
- At least 5 years in a senior project leadership role (Project Executive, Senior PM, or equivalent)
- Demonstrated track record leading multi-trade or MEP self-perform programs of $15M+, with at least one project exceeding $25M contract value
- Strong technical command of one or more: HVAC/mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or piping systems
- Proven P&L accountability with documented results on cost, schedule, and gross margin
- Experience leading and developing Project Managers and building bench strength
- Comfortable presenting to executive-level clients and GCs; able to navigate recovery conversations without losing the relationship
- Proficient with ERP-based project controls, P6 or MS Project, and standard PM technology
- Experience in advanced manufacturing, industrial, healthcare, data center, or large commercial sectors
- Southeast market relationships and regional experience strongly preferred
