Electrical Systems Design Engineer (Harness & Schematics)

Location:
Greenville, NC Warehouse Product Development Center (WPDC).
- Define and maintain vehicle-level electrical architecture, including network topologies (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and power distribution systems.
- Develop system- and component-level requirements from truck-level requirements.
- Create 2D schematics, wiring diagrams (WID), and Block Interconnect Diagrams (BID). Experience with Zuken E3 preferred.
- Utilize CAD software (Siemens NX preferred) to route harnesses through complex 3D environments, ensuring proper bend radii and clearance from heat sources and moving parts.
- Select connectors, terminals, seals, and shielding based on environmental factors (IP ratings, EMI/EMC, high-vibration).
- Lead electrical system "bring-up" phases for prototype vehicles, troubleshooting issues and performing bench testing (continuity, isolation, grounding).
- Draft 2D form boards and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure cost-effective designs and easy installation on the production line.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related STEM field.
- 3+ years experience wire harness design for industrial vehicles, automotive, or aerospace.
- Proficiency in CAD and PLM tools (NX, Teamcenter) and understanding of electrical standards.
- Familiarity with embedded systems, real-time communication networks (CAN), and control architectures.
- Knowledge of electrical fundamentals: circuits, power electronics, motor controls, battery systems.
- Ability to create and interpret CAD drawings, schematics, and design layouts.
- Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset.
- Analytical thinker with passion for problem solving.
- Curious, adaptable, driven by continuous improvement.
- Able to manage competing priorities while remaining organized and detail-oriented.
Full-time, Permanent; 40 hours per week;
Travel required 1-10%;
