Transportation Specialist IV or V (2601690)

The Greenville Area Office is looking for a Transportation Specialist IV or V to oversee corridor management for IH‑30, including design schematics, CE&I, testing, and mobility projects in Hunt and Rains Counties. This is an exciting opportunity to lead impactful projects that improve safety, mobility, and connectivity across the region.

Transportation Specialist IV – B22: $57,614 – $93,138 yearly.

Transportation Specialist V – B24: $65,104 – $106,634 yearly.

Minimum Salary: $57,614.00.

Work Locations:

Provides high‑level technical expertise and coordination for transportation programs involving multiple design and/or advanced building construction projects, construction of transportation systems, traffic operations, maintenance of highways and facilities, or bridge inspection and appraisal in accordance with Department standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assists in overseeing complex design work among TxDOT entities, consultants, and contractors.
  • Provides technical assistance in resolving construction problems related to contract administration.
  • Coordinates and performs interim and final inspections to identify deficiencies.
  • Monitors material testing requirements and results for compliance with specifications.
  • Prepares and monitors contracts for inspections done by consultants.
  • Responds to public concerns regarding construction and provides or recommends cost‑effective solutions during the administration of a construction project.
  • Reviews and oversees plan packages submitted by consultants.
  • Reviews construction records, inspection reports and records audits to ensure contractors build roadways, bridges and related structures in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Reviews formal contract disputes and claims; recommends or develops timely solutions that comply with plans, specifications and policy and serve as precedent for other projects.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

At least 5 years of transportation design, construction, traffic operations, maintenance, or bridge inspection experience. Experience can be met by full‑time or prorated part‑time equivalent. Related graduate‑level education may be substituted for experience on a one‑year per year basis.

Licenses and Certifications

Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a state vehicle.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather but not temperature changes
  • Subject to noise and vibration
  • Medium work: lift up to 50 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 lbs
