Position Information

Join our Greenville Area Office team and help shape the future of transportation in Texas. We are seeking a Transportation Engineer II, III or IV. to oversee corridor management for IH-30, including design schematics, CE&I, testing, and mobility projects in Hunt and Rains Counties. This is an exciting opportunity to lead impactful projects that improve safety, mobility, and connectivity across the region.

This job opening is for one Transportation Engineer II, III or IV depending on business need and applicant's qualifications and experience. Qualification and experience will determine the applicant's position and pay. The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of position based on the applicant’s work experience, education, skill level and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.

Transportation Engineer II: B25 | $69,572 - $114,099 yearly
Transportation Engineer III: B26 | $76,530 - $129,430 yearly
Transportation Engineer IV: B27 | $84,182 - $142,374 yearly

Performs complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Performs advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives.

Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.

Performs highly advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project
development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations, maintenance and/or [research]. Ensures compliance with
applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental
officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the
work product.

  • Responsible for the review of construction related to operations.
