Airworthiness & Certification Project Engineer
Insight Global is seeking an experienced Airworthiness & Certification Project Engineer to provide strategic leadership for aircraft certification initiatives supporting a diverse portfolio of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) and aircraft modification programs in Grenville, TX or Plano, TX (full-time, 9/80 schedule). This individual will serve as the sector's subject matter expert for airworthiness and certification strategy, partnering with engineering, program management, quality, and leadership teams to drive consistency, standardization, and certification readiness across multiple aircraft platforms and modification efforts.
The ideal candidate understands the full certification lifecycle, from certification planning and compliance strategy through regulatory engagement, aircraft integration, and approval execution. This is a highly visible role that will influence long-term certification roadmaps, improve organizational best practices, and help shape how emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools and data reuse strategies, support future certification efforts. Essential functions include:
- Lead certification and airworthiness strategy across multiple aircraft modification and ISR programs.
- Develop long-range certification roadmaps and compliance strategies supporting future aircraft and mission system integration efforts.
- Provide guidance on certification planning, compliance approaches, FAA requirements, military airworthiness requirements, and Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) processes.
- Partner with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), engineering disciplines, program leadership, quality, and flight test organizations to execute certification objectives.
- Drive standardization of certification processes, templates, compliance documentation, and best practices across the sector. Support aircraft integration efforts by ensuring certification considerations are incorporated early in program planning and design activities.
- Identify certification risks, gaps, and compliance challenges while developing mitigation strategies.
- Act as a liaison with internal stakeholders, customers, regulatory representatives, and airworthiness authorities as required.
- Mentor program teams on certification execution, compliance documentation, and airworthiness processes.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives that improve certification efficiency, documentation quality, and organizational readiness.
- Support implementation of innovative tools and AI-enabled solutions that leverage historical certification artifacts, reports, and data to accelerate future certification activities
