AREAS

OF RESPONSIBILITIES

We are currently seeking a Buyer to join our team in Greenville, SC. This role plays a critical role in managing inventory levels and ensuring material availability for production. The Buyer will analyze Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system data to convert system demand into actionable purchase orders, generate and place orders, and actively expedite materials to support production schedules.

The Buyer will collaborate closely with Production Planning, Engineering, and Inventory Management to ensure raw material and component requirements are met on time. This position is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, minimizing material shortages and excess stock, and supporting continuous improvement of purchasing and inventory processes.

The Buyer will also interpret technical drawings and specifications to source raw materials, machined components, and subcontract services. Responsibilities include negotiating with suppliers to optimize costs and on-time delivery, managing supplier performance, and ensuring purchases align with operational, quality, and budgetary requirements. At Engineered Products, safety is paramount; therefore, this role requires strict adherence to safety policies while maintaining high standards of quality and reliability.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Purchase materials, services, and components required for production in alignment with cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
  • Analyze Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system data to manage inventory levels and ensure material availability.
  • Convert system demand into accurate, actionable purchase orders.
  • Generate, release, and expedite purchase orders to support production schedules.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and support initiatives to minimize material shortages, excess inventory, and obsolete stock.
  • Collaborate with Production Planning, Inventory Management, and Engineering to ensure timely material flow.
  • Identify and communicate supply constraints or risks that may impact production or customer delivery.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery terms with suppliers to optimize cost and on-time performance.
  • Strategically manage supplier relationships and evaluate supplier performance using operational metrics.
  • Research, evaluate, and qualify new and existing suppliers as needed.
  • Partner with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve supplier quality or specification issues.
  • Read and interpret production plans, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy of purchase orders, inventory data, and material requirements.
  • Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and purchase order software platforms.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple demands, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to support internal coordination and supplier communication.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements
EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING
  • Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management preferred.
