Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support defense-industry metal and armor fabrication operations. In this role, you will own the production readiness of parts, weldments, and assemblies, taking components from engineering drawings and technical data packages through to proven, repeatable production on the shop floor.

You will lead the release of parts and programs to production, manage customer manufacturing bills of material (MBOMs) in our ERP, develop the manufacturing instructions that guide operators, and design the tooling and fixtures that make parts come together accurately and efficiently. Day to day, you'll be involved in the full fabrication cycle: cutting and forming of steel, armor plate, and aluminum;

welding and weldment qualification; machining; and final assembly.

You'll partner closely with quality, procurement, welding, and production teams to resolve issues and support qualification efforts, and you'll help shape the future of the operation by leading continuous improvement initiatives and helping guide the growth of the business.

• Ensure production readiness of parts, weldments, and assemblies, translating engineering drawings and technical data packages into manufacturable processes.
• Create and manage customer BOMs in ERP, defining make vs buy, routing steps, and defining outside processes.
• Develop clear, detailed manufacturing instructions and process documentation for cutting, forming, welding, machining, and assembly operations.
• Design in-house tooling and fixtures using Solid Works to improve quality, throughput, and operator ergonomics.
• Partner with equipment and tooling vendors to specify, source, and validate production tooling.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance production process capability, efficiency, and cost.
• Collaborate with quality, procurement, and production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and support qualification and first-article efforts.
• Support Business Development in quotation of new fabrication programs.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, plus 3+ years in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience taking new products from engineering drawings and technical data packages through manufacturing readiness to production release.
• Experience in creating and managing bills of material.
• Proficiency in Solid Works or similar CAD software.
• Proficiency reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work directly on the shop floor.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Experience in a metal fabrication environment (cutting, forming, welding, and machining of steel and aluminum).
