The Quality Engineer will report to the Quality Engineering Manager and will be part of the Quality Organization. The role focuses on maintaining and improving our Quality Management System to meet all corporate, regulatory, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and an ability to collaborate across teams and levels.
Key responsibilities include:
- Verification and validation prior to delivery.
- Performing internal audits to ensure compliance with AS9100, CMMI, and internal Quality Management System requirements.
- Participating in Agile Scrum team activities to support alignment with Agile processes.
- Witnessing product verification and validation activities (Acceptance Test / Functional Test witness).
- Providing clear communication on audit results and quality findings.
- Performing root cause analysis, Zero Defect Planning, 8D problem solving, lean methodologies, and Six Sigma practices.
- Partnering with software, systems, hardware, and aeronautical engineering teams to ensure consistent application of quality processes, standards, and operating practices.
- Utilizing investigative tools and techniques to identify corrective and preventive action opportunities and promote ongoing improvement.
- Monitoring and reporting audit findings and determining proper corrective and preventive actions with the process owner and leadership.
- Analyzing KPI trends and guiding engineering teams in corrective actions for negative performance patterns.
- Must obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance.
- Lead or support continual improvement activities such as root cause analysis, Zero Defect Plan (ZDP), 8D, 6S, Kaizen, lean methods, and Six Sigma.
- Provide quality support to development teams on software, systems, hardware, and aeronautical engineering programs.
- Attend Agile team meetings and observe Agile practices to ensure compliance with defined company processes and industry practices.
- Witness product verification and validation procedures for systems, software, and aeronautical engineering per documented test procedures and criteria.
- Review user manuals prior to delivery.
- Occasional night and/or weekend work may be required, along with weekend on‑call duty.
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
- Graduate Degree and at least 2 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum 8 years of prior related experience.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance / quality control concepts, tools, and methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100 / ISO 9001:2015.
- Process improvement skills such as 8D, Six Sigma/Lean Green Belt, Kaizen, etc.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Effective communication with internal and external customers at various levels.
- Agile, SAFe, and Lean Agile process experience a plus.
- Experience in engineering or aviation a plus.
- Knowledge in PowerBI.
