Head Mechanic

Roebuck Landscaping is seeking a Head Mechanic to lead day‑to‑day maintenance and repair operations for our vehicles, heavy equipment, and small engines across our divisions. This senior, hands‑on role is critical to ensure our fleet remains reliable, safe, and operationally ready to support Landscape Construction, Landscape Maintenance, and Holding Yard operations.

The ideal candidate is highly skilled, hands on, organized, and passionate about preventive maintenance, quality repairs, and shop accountability. • Lead and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on trucks, trailers, and landscaping equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and complete complex repairs across fleet and equipment assets.
• Ensure quality control on all mechanical work performed in house.
• Conduct and document regular equipment inspections to support safety and DOT and OSHA compliance.
• Coordinate warranty work and vendor repairs for specialized or overflow service needs.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, PM schedules, and repairs.

• Support daily shop operations and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Prioritize and execute work orders based on operational needs and downtime risk.
• Maintain organized parts, tools, and supply inventory and flag reorder needs early.
• Follow and reinforce standard operating procedures for maintenance and repair practices.
• Assist with improving shop processes and maintenance workflows.
• Serve as the senior mechanic and technical lead within the shop.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and hands‑on training to mechanics and technicians.
• Model workmanship standards, accountability, and safe work practices.
• Support onboarding and skill development of newer mechanics and helpers.
• Help build a positive, team first, accountable shop culture.

• Follow and enforce company and OSHA safety protocols in all shop activities.
• Ensure equipment is safe and field ready before release.
• Identify and correct safety risks proactively within the shop and yard.
• Participate in and support regular safety and technical training.
• Work closely with Operations and Division Leaders to prioritize repairs and reduce downtime.
• Provide input on recurring equipment issues and replacement needs.
• Support Logistics and Procurement with parts planning and maintenance insight.

• Help implement and maintain a structured preventive maintenance program across divisions.
• Support 95 percent or greater fleet readiness through consistent PM and timely repairs.
• Improve turnaround time on critical repairs and reduce repeat mechanical failures.
• Strengthen in‑house repair capability and reduce unnecessary outsourced work.
• Standardize inspection and repair documentation for consistency and compliance.
• Maintain a safe shop environment with zero preventable incidents.
