IMPORTANT NOTE:

This position supports the construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting of GEUS overhead and underground transmission, distribution, secondary, and service facilities. This posting is intended to attract candidates at multiple stages of their lineman career, from entry-level apprentices through experienced journeyman linemen. Placement within the classification structure will be determined based on experience, certifications, and demonstrated skill level.

- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot overhead and underground electrical facilities.
- Follow all GEUS safety rules, policies, and procedures.
- Work safely to protect self, crew members, the public, and property.
- Participate in job briefings (tailboard discussions) and safety meetings.
- Respond to on-call assignments and emergency outages after normal working hours.
- Use and operate GEUS tools, vehicles, and equipment safely and effectively.
- Provide guidance and training to less-experienced personnel as appropriate to level.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Perform duties under close supervision while progressively developing technical skills.
- Participate in vocational and on-the-job training with the goal of achieving Journeyman certification.
- Learn installation and wiring of transformers, capacitors, reclosers, street lighting, and related equipment.
- Perform energized work within approved voltage limits based on apprenticeship level and supervision.
- Climb poles and operate bucket trucks under supervision.
- Perform duties independently, except in unusual situations.
- Work on single-phase and multi-phase energized circuits up to system voltage limits.
- May serve as crew leader, acting foreman, or on-call lead when assigned.
- Allocate work, ensure safety compliance, and maintain quality standards for assigned crews.
- Lead or assist with job briefings and mentor apprentice linemen.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class A CDL.
- Ability to safely climb wooden poles and work at heights up to 100 feet.
- Successful completion of annual Pole-Top Rescue and Bucket Rescue.
- Qualification to work on or near energized electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical theory, voltage recognition, and minimum approach distances.
- Demonstrated proficiency with aerial lifts, digger-derricks, trenchers, and related equipment (increasing with level).
- Apprentice levels require active participation in an approved training program.
- Journeyman levels require completion of training and increasing years of verified journeyman experience.
- Work at heights from poles, bucket trucks, and aerial devices.
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 88 pounds.
- Generate push and pull forces of up to 65 pounds.
- Ascend and descend ladders repeatedly while maintaining required heart-rate standards.
