Director of Software Engineering

Our client is seeking a hands‑on, forward‑thinking Director of Software Engineering to lead software engineering strategy and execution within a high‑growth, technology‑driven environment.

This role will play a key part in shaping modern engineering practices, driving innovation through AI and automation, and building scalable, secure systems. The ideal candidate is both a strategic leader and a strong technical operator who enjoys being close to the work while leading high‑performing teams.

• Define and execute an engineering strategy aligned with broader business objectives
• Drive adoption of modern technologies, including AI‑driven development, automation, and cloud‑native architectures
• Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and high‑performing systems
• Implement best practices to improve delivery speed, code quality, and system reliability
• Manage and reduce technical debt while maintaining long‑term platform health
• Establish and track key performance metrics across engineering (velocity, quality, reliability)
• Promote secure and compliant development practices across the organization
• Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams, including managing managers and fostering a high‑performance culture

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering
• 7+ years of leadership experience, including managing multiple teams or managers
• Strong technical background with hands‑on experience in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP), microservices, CI/CD, and containerization
• Proven experience driving Agile and Dev Ops transformations
• Experience with AI/ML or automation initiatives within engineering environments
• Ability to translate technical vision into execution and measurable business outcomes
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
