Accountant - Accounts Payable, Hybrid.

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a fast-moving financial services organization in Stamford, Connecticut. This position supports essential accounting operations with a focus on payables, general ledger activity, and cross-border payment processing. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a high-volume environment and can maintain accuracy while managing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities:

- Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including reviewing invoices, assigning proper accounting codes, and preparing timely payments.

- Record journal entries and support general ledger accuracy through consistent documentation and reconciliation practices.

- Process domestic and international payments, ensuring transactions are completed correctly and in line with internal controls.

- Handle foreign currency-related payment activity and assist with tracking exchange-rate impacts where applicable.

- Verify invoice details, resolve discrepancies, and coordinate with internal teams or external vendors to address payment issues.

- Maintain organized financial records and contribute to month-end accounting tasks to support timely reporting.

- Assist with day-to-day accounting operations in a fast-paced trading environment, balancing deadlines and changing priorities.

Requirements

Requirements:

- At least 2 years of accounting experience, with hands-on exposure to accounts payable functions.

- Working knowledge of journal entries and foundational general ledger processes.

- Experience processing invoices, coding expenses, and supporting accurate financial records.

- Familiarity with international payments and foreign currency transactions is preferred.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a high-volume, deadline-driven setting.

- Proficiency with accounting systems and standard business software tools.

- Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and with outside contacts.
