A well-established construction organization is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Bookkeeper to support daily accounting operations and project administration. This role works closely with project management and accounting teams, helping ensure accurate financial reporting, billing, payroll processing, and compliance documentation across multiple projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with construction accounting experience who enjoys a fast-paced environment and takes pride in accuracy, organization, and meeting deadlines.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and manage progress billing packages, including AIA billings, schedules of values, retainage tracking, and supporting documentation.
- Oversee accounts receivable activities, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing and collections.
- Process and maintain certified payroll records and submit required reporting documentation in accordance with project requirements.
- Handle accounts payable functions, including invoice review, coding, entry, and payment processing for vendors and subcontractors.
- Maintain project compliance records, including certificates of insurance, lien waivers, W-9 forms, subcontractor documentation, and related project files.
- Support union payroll administration, including reporting requirements, benefit contributions, wage rates, and associated documentation.
- Collaborate with project managers and internal accounting staff to ensure billing, payroll, job costing, and compliance activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Assist with ongoing financial tracking and reporting related to active construction projects.
- Prior experience in construction accounting, bookkeeping, or project accounting environments.
- Hands-on experience with AIA/progress billings, certified payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Understanding of construction accounting concepts, including retainage, change orders, job costing, and subcontractor compliance requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- High attention to detail, strong follow-through, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
