Overview
This is a posting for second shift. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating, managing, and executing Maintenance & Modernization work via contracts to NAVSEA, NUWC, and other sponsors and partners. Duties include developing and implementing successful strategies to win competitive solicitations, planning and executing CNO maintenance availabilities, coordinating work in Groton, at off‑site locations, between EB sites and between subcontractors, and managing execution of work safely, on time and on budget with requisite quality in Groton or at remote locations.
The role also involves resolving emergent issues to support scheduled work, managing work paper, material and GFI/GFE, and supporting off‑site operations. The candidate will ensure work is performed efficiently and in accordance with specifications, drawings, work procedures, and company policies. Candidate must be willing to travel to other shipyards as needed (less than 10%) in the continental United States, Hawaii, or the Far East.
This position mainly supports the USS HARTFORD (SSN 768) Engineered Overhaul (EOH). Successful candidates will engage with all levels of management to report progress, manage issues, and seek support from functional organizations throughout the waterfront, including Planning, Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, Test, Contracts, Finance, Ship’s Force, SUPSHIP Groton, and PMS 392. Working in a fast‑paced environment, each day presents new opportunities to solve both tactical and strategic challenges faced by the Project Team.
Must
- Have a strong work ethic, strong communication and organizational skills, and be able to work independently.
- Have knowledge of various systems (e.g., SPARS, EWP, ARTEMIS, ELECTRONIC DESKTOP, 7G).
- Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Be able to work with engineering, test, management personnel, and other civilian and Navy personnel.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- 5+ years of previous experience within EB departments such as Program office, Operations, Engineering, Planning, Contracts, Finance, Ship’s Management, or a combination thereof.
- Periodic travel to off‑site locations may be required.
- Experience with EB Overhaul and Repair engineering, operations, or contracts.
- Project management and cost performance metrics experience.
- Knowledge of submarine maintenance, especially relating to safety, work execution procedures, program management, and availability certification.
- Experience with availability certification and Submarine Availability Completion Manual requirements.
- Desire to work in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
- Motivation to drive collaboration across multiple organizations both internally and externally.
- Proven ability to solve problems independently and work collaboratively with teammates.
- Well‑developed communication (verbally and written), organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, such as Word and Excel.
