Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking a Lower School Spanish Teacher for an immediate start at an independent school in Greenwich, CT.

Lower School Spanish Teacher Responsibilities:
  • Developing lesson plans and curricula based on the needs of individual students.
  • Teach Spanish courses for Lower School students in grades K-5.
  • Providing conversational classes where pronunciation and important words and phrases are taught.
  • Teaching Spanish writing and composition classes for students.
  • Conducting research on teaching methods, materials, and language games that can be used in class.
  • Monitoring student's progress by writing up reports and grading assessments.
  • Organizing feedback sessions with students and their parents if applicable.
  • Providing suggestions for further learning and scheduling intervention sessions with struggling students.
  • Teaching students about Spanish culture, which may include festivals, traditional food, and dress, and social conventions.
  • Organizing fun events where students can showcase their Spanish language skills.
Lower School Spanish Teacher Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or related required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Native or near native fluency in Spanish required.
  • 2-3 years of previous teaching experience.
  • No teaching license or credential is required.
  • Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-organized and able to handle multiple responsibilities.
  • Detail-oriented and resilient.
Additional Desired Qualities:
  • A desire to be involved in extra-curricular activities as well as the broader school community.
  • Willingness to work with lower school students.
  • Experience with the International Baccalaureate is preferred, but not required.
