Position: Classroom Teacher / Talented and Gifted
Job Description:

Greenwich Public Schools seeks one or more outstanding educators to serve as grade 2 Advanced Learning Program (ALP) Teacher(s) through June 30, 2026. The teacher(s) will teach grade 2 students identified as gifted in language arts and mathematics at Riverside Elementary School. The ideal candidate(s) will understand the growth and development of children, and thus be able to plan and deliver lessons accordingly, helping students learn subject matter and skills that will broaden their learning experiences.

* If two 0.1 FTE positions:

* One individual (0.1 FTE) would teach grade 2 students identified as gifted in language arts from 10:30-11:00 a.m. four days per week.

* One individual (0.1 FTE) would teach grade 2 students identified as gifted in mathematics from 2:30-3:00 p.m. four days per week.

The two 0.1 FTE positions may be combined into one 0.2 FTE position.

Responsibilities

* Prepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, using appropriate techniques and serving the needs of all learners in the classroom

* Demonstrate strong content knowledge

* Maintain accurate and complete records

* Assess student learning on a continual basis and identify areas of intervention if needed

* Communicate student progress with parents through the use of interim reports, report cards, and/or conferences

* Design instruction to meet the needs of all learners

* Design and implement assessments that measure progress and use assessments to refine curriculum and instructional practices

* Maintain a positive learning environment that encourages open communication between the teacher and learner

* Establish and maintain professional relationships

* Participate in professional learning

Knowledge/Skills

* Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing

* Effective, active listening skills

* Ability to work effectively with others

* Organizational and problem-solving skills

Qualifications

* CT certification as an elementary teacher is required; candidates with any elementary-grade certification will be considered.
