The school offers a coed program for young children at the Barat Center for Early Childhood Education and then an all-girls experience from K-12 on our 110-acre campus in Greenwich, Connecticut. We are proudly part of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools.

We are currently seeking a Middle School Physical Education Teacher to join in the vision of our Physical Education Department for the  school year.

Position: Middle School Physical Education and Health Teacher
Reports to: Head of Middle School
FLSA Status: Exempt, Full-time

Sacred Heart Greenwich is committed to excellence in academics, athletics, and the holistic development of each student. The Physical Education and Middle School Health Teacher is responsible for delivering a high-quality physical education and health program that promotes physical wellness, healthy decision-making, and lifelong fitness. Instruction is provided within the context of the Goals and Criteria that define a Sacred Heart education.

• Plan and teach physical education classes primarily for grades 5th through 8th, might also include Lower School classes as well as needed
• Serve as a member of the Health and Wellness department, including teaching one designated grade level of middle school health
• Serve as an advisor to a group of Middle School students
• Willingness to teach flexibly and collaborate with colleagues across divisions
• Genuine passion for and command of subject matter and enthusiasm for working with middle school students
• Instruction encourages curiosity, exploration, and discovery appropriate to the developmental levels and learning styles of the students
• Support for all learners through diverse strategies and approaches in a caring environment where students learn and collaborate positively with one another
• Interactions with parents on students' progress, social growth, and learning needs at designated times of the year, and meetings with parents as necessary
• Embrace and live out the mission as outlined in the goals and criteria of the Sacred Heart.
• Other duties as assigned by the Middle School Division Head.
• Serve as a coach for at least two seasons, with the capacity to coach at the Varsity-level, as determined with the Director of Athletics.

Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education required;
Master's preferred. 1-3 years experience teaching children in grades 5 to 8. The ideal candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills and a compassionate heart. The ability to develop teaching strategies and teach multiple grade levels is essential. Experience coaching at the middle/high school or collegiate level is preferred.
