Greenwich Public Schools seeks an Assistant Principal for New Lebanon Elementary School beginning July 1, 2026. Home to approximately 350 students enrolled in grades PreK–5, New Lebanon is a neighborhood school fostering academic excellence, community partnership, and strong social and emotional growth. New Lebanon’s IB magnet theme exposes students to cross‑curricular experiences while instilling a love of learning and preparing them to be successful in a rapidly changing and diverse global society.

The Assistant Principal assists the building principal in organizing and fostering a positive, safe environment conducive to meeting the needs of all students, staff, and parents. Responsibilities include leading, directing, and supervising personnel and programs; creating effective family, teacher, and child communications; supporting, mentoring, and evaluating staff; fostering teamwork among teachers, staff, and families; managing budget items; and acting as principal during absences.

Additional core duties:

  • Develop and establish school goals and instructional program.
  • Define and disseminate disciplinary policies to families, students, and staff.
  • Administer school programs in alignment with district goals.
  • Lead staff in evaluating and improving educational programs.
  • Promote a safe, personalized learning environment.
  • Prepare class, master, and extracurricular schedules.
  • Ensure Board policies and procedures are followed.
  • Engage in professional development through seminars and research.
  • Encourage staff growth and innovative teaching practices.
  • Coordinate instructional programs with district leaders.
  • Assess student learning and support special needs accommodations.
  • Oversee recruitment, personnel file maintenance, and HR issues.
  • Involve staff in program evaluation and planning.
  • Encourage family involvement and maintain communication.
  • Maintain student conduct and attendance standards.
  • Supervise and evaluate teaching staff per district evaluation plan.
  • Assist with budgetary and financial affairs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, including differentiated instruction.
  • School curriculum and concepts.
  • Best practices in administration, program evaluation, and staff supervision.
  • Data systems, analysis, and action‑plan formulation.
  • Applicable federal and state education laws.
  • Computer networking and software application proficiency.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Project development and implementation.
  • Effective communication with students and parents.
  • Organization of multiple tasks under time constraints.
  • Self‑evaluation of leadership, performance, and growth.
Qualifications
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Passion for innovative thinking and inquiry‑based instruction.
  • Excellent understanding of personalized learning, educational best practices, and data‑driven instruction.
  • Eligibility for Connecticut State Intermediate Administrator Certification (#092).
  • Previous school administrative experience preferred.
Terms of Employment
  • Standard administrator work schedule, including attendance at Board meetings and other meetings as needed.
  • Perform professional responsibilities in accordance with the operational programs of the Greenwich Board of Education.
