Job Title

Greenwich Public Schools seeks teachers for the Hamilton Avenue Saturday School program, which is anticipated to take place on March 7, 14, 21, & 28, 2026, with student hours 8:45 a.m. through 12:00 p.m. Teachers will work 8:15 a.m. through 12:15 p.m., which includes 30 minutes of planning times. In addition, teachers will be given 3 hours of additional planning time pre-program.

Five to six general education teachers, special education teachers, and/or interventionists are needed to work all Saturdays of the program; four teachers in the areas of art, library media, music, and/or physical education are needed to each work 1 or more Saturdays of the program. This program will provide extended learning opportunities to students in grades 1-5. The program will target specific skills necessary for success on the upcoming NGSS and SBA assessments.

Through small-group instruction and tailored learning activities, the program will address academic gaps, reinforce key concepts, and increase students' exposure to IABs (Interim Assessment Blocks) to ensure they are better prepared for these important assessments. Additionally, students will participate in enrichment activities during a "special" block.

Essential Responsibilities

Use data and district trends to inform instruction Promote a safe and positive classroom environment where all students feel welcomed Foster an organized and structured classroom environment that allows for whole-group, small-group, and individualized instruction Monitor and collect data to evaluate the efficacy of the program and demonstrate student growth Provide appropriate, meaningful, and timely feedback to improve student achievement Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents throughout the duration of the program Ensures student conduct conforms with the school's standards and district policies, and establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom Perform other related tasks as assigned by the site supervisor as designated by the Superintendent Incorporate technology and digital tools appropriately into instruction Create and implement lesson plans in the areas of math, reading, and science

Ability to create an inviting atmosphere and educational program that nurtures the intellectual, social, and emotional growth of each student Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles Knowledge of all GPS elementary curriculum Ability to use a learning management system, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans to personalize the learning experience for all students Ability to organize and coordinate work Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work Ability to provide students with opportunities to develop critical thinking skills, while affording opportunity for creative activity Ability to collaborate with colleagues Ability to employ a variety of teaching techniques through the use of appropriate instructional materials to meet the needs of all learners Knowledge of how to use technology to enhance instruction

Qualifications

Preference will be given to Greenwich Public Schools staff with elementary school teacher certification
