Position: Principal, Alpha - $200,000/year USD
  • Springfield, MA
  • $200,000 annual compensation
  • Health benefits from day one

Tired of seeing Springfield's students limited by a system that prevents you from upholding the standards they need? Alpha is opening a new campus in this city, and we're seeking a leader who already knows Springfield's educational landscape. You'll oversee 15+ Guides responsible for coaching and motivating students, while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No traditional "teaching". High-impact execution. Pure leadership focus.

Your objective: guarantee that every student enjoys coming to school, progresses at twice the pace of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life competencies. This is not a conventional Principal position. You'll maintain rigorous standards, rely on data to guide decisions, and establish Springfield's top-performing school from the outset.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Launch the Springfield, MA campus:
Execute Alpha's three core commitments for 100+ students from the first day, maintaining operational excellence throughout.
  • Facilitate live workshops for K-8 students on life skills:
Conduct engaging one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback exchange. Apply Alpha's structured approach to ensure students develop competencies overlooked by traditional schools while remaining engaged and enthusiastic.
  • Drive every student toward 100% goal achievement:
Develop personalized motivational strategies for each individual. Apply data-informed methods to address resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Your success is measured by every student reaching their objectives.
  • Develop Guides to meet Alpha's excellence standards:
Leverage data to pinpoint performance shortfalls, provide clear and actionable feedback, and monitor progress. Take decisive action when performance doesn't meet expectations and model the standard for your entire campus.
  • Execute data-informed leadership across campus operations:
Evaluate performance in staffing, operations, parent engagement, and school culture. Identify challenges, perform root cause analysis, engage relevant stakeholders, and implement trackable improvements. Monitor outcomes and iterate based on evidence.
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Teaching or tutoring students. Students advance through Alpha's self-directed EdTech platform, not through traditional adult-led lectures.
  • Creating lesson plans or curriculum. Alpha's operational playbook already exists. Your responsibility is execution and leadership, not instructional content development.
  • Overseeing budgets or recruiting personnel. Centralized teams manage finance and talent acquisition. Your focus remains entirely on campus outcomes and culture.
  • Serving as a content expert. This position is 80% leadership and engagement, 20% education. You inspire action; the platform delivers instruction.

Executive

Key Responsibilities:

Execute Alpha's three core commitments: every student enjoys school, learns at twice the speed, and develops critical life skills — from day one at a newly launched Springfield campus.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the Springfield, MA educational environment.
  • Experience working directly with young people ages 5 - 14.
  • Demonstrated data analysis capabilities and a track record of using metrics to inform decision-making and drive ongoing improvement.
  • Commitment to educational transformation. Conviction that the traditional educational model is fundamentally flawed.
  • Startup mentality: performs well under pressure, flexible in evolving environments, confident building infrastructure from the ground up.
