Research and Development Project Manager (R&D Project Manager)

Role

Summary:

Based in Waterbury, CT, the candidate will work within a global team of R&D scientists and Applications Engineers, coordinating project delivery for Circuit Board Assembly (CBA), reinforcement (underfill and Edgebond), and protection (conformal coating) materials. Deliver high‑quality services within budget and defined plans to internal and external customers.

Salary Range: $92,402 – $138,604 annually (competitive base salary).

• Act as an R&D Project Manager for New Product Development Projects supported in our Circuitry Solutions Laboratories.
• Manage strategic and project goals, coordinating global Circuitry Solutions application engineering activities.
• Provide added value through management by understanding various application processes in Circuitry Solutions.
• Scope, time, cost and risk manage projects.
• Overall responsibility for planning and managing internal and external projects related to the development of Electronics Advanced Interconnect Solutions focused on Circuitry Solutions.
• Assemble project teams, define schedules, track technical activities, and generate progress reports.
• Collaborate with R&D teams worldwide (US, Europe, Asia) and internal stakeholders to ensure relevant expertise is employed.
• Carry out cost, time and resource planning, assess risks and define countermeasures.
• Work with a team of Project Managers to develop and maintain a comprehensive portfolio management process.
• Partner with Line of Business Project Managers, Product Managers, Manufacturing and Quality to ensure continuous alignment.
• Support design of internal processes and optimization of project management methods.

• B.Sc. degree in Materials Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; M.S. preferred.
• Capable of managing complex projects and employing Agile, Waterfall and other management concepts as needed. Relevant training (PMP/CSM/CPMP or similar) strongly preferred.
• Experience in managing technology‑oriented projects or working in the electronics field.

• Strong communication, social skills, purposeful approach.
• Customer‑needs understanding, commitment to quality service and continuous improvement.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, Visio, MS Project and similar tools.
• Willingness to travel occasionally (≤15%) for domestic and overseas work.
