Risk Manager/Analyst
Location: NYC Tri-State Area (Connecticut Preferred)
Work Mode: Hybrid
Base Pay Range: $150K/Yr - $170K/Yr
We are hiring a Lead Consultant in our Telecommunications practice to support our clients in their Credit & Fraud Risk and payments strategy and operations across their B2C and SMB segments. The role is advisory in nature, focused on policy review, senior stakeholder engagement, and development of strategies to support business and risk decisions. The role is hybrid and based in the NYC tri-state area and requires travel to client offices in Connecticut, and occasional visits to other EXL and client locations along the East Coast including New York and Georgia.
The ideal candidate would bring deep credit & fraud domain expertise, consulting acumen and the ability to storyboard insights with senior stakeholders. Prior experience in the Telecommunications industry is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Assess the design and effectiveness of credit risk policies, decisioning frameworks, and governance models across various business units as part of the second line of defense
- Develop structured insight-driven recommendations for credit risk supported by analysis and industry best practices, leveraging internal and external analytics tools and credit risk platforms (e.g. FICO and Experian suites)
- Produce compelling executive-ready storylines and presentations that synthesize insights and drive decision-making, and highlight process improvement and harmonization opportunities
- Provide strategic guidance and oversight to junior colleagues across credit risk, fraud and payments ecosystems
- Serve as a subject matter expert to drive client outcomes and strengthen EXL’s industry and functional capabilities
Qualifications:
- Bachelors / Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Engineering or a related quantitative field from a top-tier university, or an MBA with relevant domain experience
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in Credit & Fraud Risk Strategy and/or Operations, preferably in Strategy or Consulting roles
- Deep domain understanding of industry standard processes across the credit services lifecycle including application, transaction, merchant, and dispute/chargeback management
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power Point
- Strong client engagement and consulting skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders by creating compelling storylines
- Excellent communication, presentation and storytelling skills with a data-driven orientation, and comfort operating in fast-evolving, ambiguous environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industry standard credit risk platforms (e.g. FICO and Experian suites)
- Relevant certifications in Credit Risk, Fraud Risk, or Risk Management (e.g., CFE, FRM, PRM) are a plus
- Prior consulting or advisory experience in telecom or adjacent industries
- Experience operating in both First & Second Line of Defense or policy / risk oversight role
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR, telecom consumer protection regulations) is a plus
- Working knowledge of data visualization software such as Tableau, Power BI and Looker
