Role Overview
An Accounting Manager is required for a growing group within a manufacturing and defence aligned environment based in Sandy Hook Connecticut. This role will report into the Corporate Controller and will take ownership of the general ledger while stepping in hands on across Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable when needed. The focus is on strong GAAP accounting from journal entries through to balance sheet reconciliations and the preparation of accurate monthly reporting.
You will also support costing requirements and drive process improvements across the finance function.
Maintain the accuracy and completeness of general ledger accounts across the group.
Prepare and post month end journals supporting management reporting and timely close.
Produce balance sheet reconciliations to agreed deadlines investigating and resolving reconciling items quickly.
Support hands on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activity when required ensuring smooth weekly cycles.
Prepare monthly reporting packs plus daily weekly and monthly bookings and sales reporting.
Reconcile intercompany balances monthly and maintain fixed asset registers.
Prepare draft tax related filings including VAT returns EC sales Intrastat Sales and Use and 1099 submissions.
Review invoice finance reconciliations and provide monthly movement summaries.
Support budgeting year end consolidation lead schedules plus audit requests and working papers.
Provide costing support suited to a manufacturing setting with preference for defence industry exposure.
Act as bank signing authority including setting up and approving payments where required.
Drive continuous improvement across controls reporting and finance processes.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
Proven Accounting Manager level experience covering GAAP accounting from journals through to financial reporting.
Strong balance sheet reconciliation experience with confidence investigating variances and fixing root causes.
Comfortable being hands on across AP and AR when required.
Advanced Excel capability including pivot tables and high volume data handling.
ERP experience is essential with exposure to Acumatica or similar preferred.
Manufacturing costing experience is highly desirable with defence industry experience a strong advantage.
Experience working in a small finance team with weekly operating cycles and tight deadlines.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent.
Detail focused organised and confident communicating finance information to different stakeholders.

Salary :
- c $90,000 Base & good benefits package.
Hours: 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday.
