Fixed Asset Accountant
Client Overview:
Our client is a fast-growing, asset-intensive organization operating a large national fleet. The company supports complex, multi-system financial operations and places a strong emphasis on accuracy, controls, and scalable processes. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with operations in a highly visible accounting function supporting a fleet of 1,000+ vehicles.
- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register for 1,000+ vehicles, including VINs, cost basis, depreciation, insurance, and medallions
- Own the monthly depreciation process and ensure journal entries accurately tie to Net Suite/Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and the general ledger
- Track detailed vehicle cost basis, including purchase price, upfit/pack-up costs, rebates, incentives, and eligibility attributes
- Reconcile fixed asset data across Net Suite/Dynamics, Beckman's, Snowflake, Geneva, Excel, and other operational systems
- Support bulk vehicle purchases (20-40 vehicles at a time), including onboarding, capitalization, and cost allocation
- Track and amortize prepaid insurance and other vehicle-related prepaid assets
- Maintain fixed asset accounting policies, including capitalization thresholds, useful lives, and depreciation methodologies
- Prepare audit-ready fixed asset schedules and respond to external auditor inquiries
- Support month-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and fleet-related balance sheet schedules
- Partner with Fleet Operations on vehicle lifecycle events, including purchases, upfits, repairs, and retirements
- Identify and implement automation opportunities and workflow improvements
- Apply SOX-aligned documentation, reconciliation, and evidence standards to support internal control reliability
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Accounting experience in fixed asset or asset-heavy environments
- Experience with Net Suite and/or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and large data set management
- Experience supporting month-end close, account reconciliations, and audits
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP fixed asset accounting standards
- Strong attention to detail with a documentation- and accuracy-focused mindset
- Demonstrated SOX, process, and controls discipline, including evidence capture and documentation standards
- Experience using AI tools (including agentic AI systems) to support reconciliations, anomaly detection, documentation, audit preparation, or workflow automation
- CPA or CPA-track
- Experience in transportation, fleet management, leasing, manufacturing, or other asset-heavy industries
- Familiarity with Geneva (SS&C), particularly for investment accounting reconciliation or multi-entity reporting
- Experience with bulk asset or inventory onboarding processes
