In-House Counsel | Finance

I’m working with a leading $14bn AUM alternative credit manager to hire a Counsel into its growing legal team in Greenwich, CT.

This is a broad transactional role for a lawyer with around 3 to 5 years’ experience who wants to move closer to the investment side of the business and gain exposure beyond a single area of credit.

The role will work directly with investment professionals across private credit, fund finance, infrastructure credit and structured credit transactions. Responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing and negotiating transaction documentation across a range of credit investments
• Working directly with investment teams and coordinating outside counsel
• Negotiating complex legal and commercial terms
• Supporting fund formation, co-investment and investor documentation
• Working with internal technology teams to use AI to organise, track and manage transactions

The business has been established for around 15 years and has grown considerably beyond its original credit strategy, with several newer investment strategies continuing to scale. The legal team currently consists of five lawyers plus a Senior Legal Analyst, creating strong scope to take on responsibility and progress as the platform grows.

They are particularly interested in lawyers from fund finance, private credit, leveraged finance or structured credit backgrounds. Fund finance experience across NAVs, rated feeders or CFOs would be particularly relevant, but breadth, intellectual curiosity and the ability to pick up new areas quickly are more important than having a perfect product match.

Candidates can come directly from private practice or another in-house role.
