Sr. Platform Engineer - Design; Platform Engineering Team

Overview

Our Client’s Platform engineering team is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer - Design. The person will define, design and develop plans for installation/reconfiguration, and overall management of systems to provide reliable, resilient and secure solutions. They should have strong knowledge of programming and scripting, system administration, operating systems, virtualization, networking, engineering, and administration, with excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. They should have a passion to continuously improve services, enhance security and optimize service performance.

• Design automated solutions leveraging cutting edge tools, focusing on infrastructure and containerization.
• Provide direct support to technical and non-technical stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions for deployments, upgrades, performance tuning and testing.
• Implement and utilize asset inventory, configuration management, capacity management, performance management, resource optimization, and security (access control, authorization, and accounting) for all technologies in scope.
• Define requirements, perform research, evaluate vendors/solutions, design/implement solutions, and provide ongoing support for all technologies in scope with scalable, high-performing and reliable outcomes.
• Drive standardized solutions across the organization for hardware, software, configurations, and processes.
• Implement tools and processes for efficient operational management of the environment — change management, monitoring, alerting, incident handling, and customer request handling.
• Schedule and provide after-hours or weekend support as needed to perform high-risk or planned maintenance of data center systems.
• Participate in defining and executing a roadmap of projects that adopt innovative technology, tools, automation, and processes.
• Collaborate with internal teams to provide timely and proactive solutions and problem resolution.
• Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to audiences with varying levels of technical ability.

• Programming and Scripting:
  Proficiency in languages such as Ansible, Python, or Ruby;
  Bash, Perl, or similar scripting languages.
• CI/CD Pipelines:
  Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git Lab).
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
  Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Cloud Computing:
  Strong knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes); familiarity with AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Azure.
• System Administration:
  Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix administration; experience with performance tuning and monitoring.
• Networking:
  Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, and other network protocols; experience with load balancers, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Monitoring and Logging:
  Proficiency with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios) and logging tools (e.g., Splunk, Elasticsearch).
