Director, Ceded Reinsurance Accounting

Our client is an insurance company. They seek a Director of Ceded Reinsurance Accounting to join their Greenwich, CT office.

• Spearhead the ceded reinsurance system implementation and stabilization, including workflow documentation, system testing, issue resolution with IT, and transition to production
• Oversee post-implementation support, continuous improvement, historical data consolidation, and post-migration reconciliations
• Direct and develop a team of ceded reinsurance professionals, ensuring quality, accuracy, timeliness, and engagement
• Execute reinsurance accounting operations, including contract administration, invoicing, loss recoveries, and timely settlements
• Administer corporate reinsurance contracts within reinsurance systems
• Advance team learning initiatives and performance metrics to drive operational efficiency
• Deliver technical reinsurance guidance and training across the team
• Review and prepare reinsurance schedules and statements of account
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including cash processes, reconciliations, reporting, and issue resolution
• Ensure compliance with internal audit requirements, regulatory standards, and stakeholder collaboration across Risk Management and Operating Units while driving automation and process improvements

• 10-18 years of ceded reinsurance accounting experience
• Insurance industry experience
• Strong understanding of reinsurance accounting concepts and ability to interpret reinsurance contracts
• Strong technology skills
• Excellent leadership skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
