Overview

APP (Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner) – Surgery at Greenwich Hospital, 5 Perryridge Rd, Greenwich, CT 06830.

Work schedule:

12‑hour rotating, 7 am‑7 pm; scheduled hours: 37.5; position type: FTE. The role follows Yale New Haven Health System values—integrity, patient‑centered care, respect, accountability, compassion.

• Clinical Care: assess, triage, and manage patient/family needs, perform histories, examinations, order/tests, and develop treatment plans; collaborate with supervising physicians, provide autonomous team‑based care, and assist in operative cases within scope.
• Patient Education & Psychosocial Support: educate patients/families on care, treatments, side effects, discharge, and provide psychosocial support within a multidisciplinary team.
• Information Management: ensure appropriate documentation, protect patient information, and comply with regulatory requirements.
• Quality Management: maintain high professional standards, comply with healthcare regulations, and report safety events.
• Professional Development: engage in projects to advance competency, serve as a resource for new staff, precept students, mentor candidates, and collaborate on research, QA, and protocol development.

• Education:
  
  Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Experience:
  
  Preferred clinical experience as an NP/PA in the relevant specialty; if not, must be appointed to the YNHHS Medical Staff and credentialed.
• Licensure & Certification:
  Active PA Certification (NCCPA) and Connecticut license; ACLS/BLS; DEA (if indicated); PALS/NRP (if indicated); or for NPs:
  Connecticut RN license, NP license, board specialty certification; ACLS/BLS; DEA; PALS/NRP as required.
• Additional requirements may include other certifications, continuing education credits, or specialty credentials based on role.
