Position: School Nurse (50-70% position)

Sacred Heart Greenwich is an independent, Catholic, college preparatory school for girls (K–12) and coeducational in its early childhood program. Founded in 1848 and located on a beautiful 110-acre campus in Greenwich, Connecticut, the School is part of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools.

We are currently seeking a compassionate School Nurse (50-70% position) to join in the vision of our Health and Wellness Office for the  school year. We are open to candidates that are willing to work from 20-30 hours per week. Ideal schedule would be Monday
- Friday 10:30 am- 4 pm. The office is open Monday-Friday, from 8am-4pm.

Essential Responsibilities/Capabilities

The School Nurse has the following responsibilities:

  • Assessment, planning, and appropriate care for students who are ill or injured preschool through 12th grade
    • Requires LLPN or RN level license, current CPR, 1-2 years of nursing experience or experience in pediatric health and wellness required.
  • Documentation of nursing interventions using Magnus Health electronic medical records system.
    • Must be comfortable with all documentation being electronic.
    • Able to assist parents, faculty, staff with electronic medical records
  • Assists students and families to achieve optimal levels of wellness through health education and counseling
    • Focus is the wellness of the whole child-social, emotional, physical, spiritual
  • Dispenses appropriate medications with accuracy and fidelity per provider orders
  • Performs informal medical assessment of school employees as requested or with written medical orders.
    • BP checks, basic first aid care
  • Utilize emergency care plans for health conditions including food allergies, asthma, diabetes and provide regular education and follow up.
    • Roll will require supervision of students with Type 1 DM
  • Attendance follow up related to illness
    • Daily monitoring of Student absence tracker and follow up
  • Complies with the Code of Ethics and Professional standards for school nurses.
    • Membership in NASN is employee benefit
  • Demonstrates ethical, courteous, and professional behavior in working with administration, staff, students, parents, and medical professionals.
    • Maintains confidentiality and respectful interactions with parents, students and staff at all times
  • Demonstrates a positive work ethic, a true love of children, and to be self directed to perform tasks to the institution's high standards and core values.
Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate will be a current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) credential with a current Connecticut nursing license, prior school nurse experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage electronic medical records platforms including uploading records, verifying accuracy, follow up with parents and providers, communication to other disciplines and consistency with all legal considerations.
  • Our campus is 100+ acres. Candidates should be physically able to stand for long periods, walk stairs, and hills.
  • The candidate should be energetic, approachable, knowledgeable, and eager to be an active member of a dynamic learning community.
