About the Role
Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician Apprenticeship – plan, install, service, commission and maintain all aspects of plumbing and heating systems. Work inside or outside a property. Over the 48-month apprenticeship, learners receive training to work independently and safely, interpreting drawings and specifications, selecting materials and adhering to industry standards and positive health & safety practices.
Typical Duties- Accurately measure, cut, bend and connect metal and plastic pipework.
- 1st and 2nd fix plumbing systems.
- Work on equipment and appliances such as water pumps, air‑con units, thermostats and pressure relief valves.
- Install waste, soil and rainwater pipework.
- Commission and decommission equipment and appliances.
- Proactive, takes pride in work and accountable for decisions.
- Enjoys variety and adapts to dynamic, fast‑paced environments.
- Prioritises tasks quickly and tackles problems head‑first.
- Communicates effectively with multiple teams.
- Analyses and interprets information, communicating to varied audiences.
- Willing to travel to different sites and training days.
- Curious, learns quickly in a reactive setting.
- Can work in all weather conditions, protecting customers and the environment.
- Able to understand and follow health and safety protocols.
- Lives in the London Borough of Greenwich.
- English and Maths at GCSE Grade 3 or above, or Functional Skills Level 1 or above.
- Completed a Level 2 Plumbing Studies Diploma.
The passion and commitment to become a fully qualified plumber, with any relevant prior work experience and a CSCS/JIB card considered advantageous.
Key Training / College InformationK10 will register you for the Level 3 Plumbing and Domestic Heating course and fund your qualifications through an ESFA-funded training provider. The apprenticeship duration is 48 months, depending on prior qualifications.
Typical Working Week40 hours per week, including 8 hours paid rt time typically between 07:00 and 08:00.
Physical DemandsRegular manual handling of loads up to 25 kg, work outdoors and on uneven terrain.
Eligibility- Living in England for the last 3 years and have right to work status.
- Not enrolled in any other courses.
- 18+ years old due to site health & safety rules.
- Living in the London Borough of Greenwich.
