Education and Experience
High School and/or Trade School diploma, plus two (2) years of building trades work experience in an educational or industrial environment.
Qualifications- Proven knowledge of standard building construction and maintenance practices, including the proper use of building materials and tools.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the fundamentals of routine maintenance and repair of electrical and HVAC systems as well as of plumbing and sanitary waste systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of the applicable Federal, State, and Local building codes.
- Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Proven ability to work from blueprints, sketches, and/or drawings as well as from electrical and piping specifications.
- Proven ability to operate hand and power tools, as well as machines and equipment used in building trades.
- Proven ability to climb ladders and scaffolds, as well as the ability to work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Demonstrated ability to lift, push, and support weights of 100-150 pounds.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, officials, and the public.
- Valid Driver’s license.
- 100% Written Exam
- Pass/Fail Performance Exam
- Performs routine maintenance and repairs of HVAC equipment, including boilers, control devices, pumps, burners, motors, and fans; electrical equipment, including switches, controls, and circuit breakers; and plumbing and sanitary waste systems, including clear stoppages, flushometers, faucets, water mains, and piping.
- Maintains and repairs fire and burglar alarms and emergency lighting systems.
- Performs basic carpentry and masonry tasks as well as routine painting of buildings.
- Responds to emergency calls.
- Transports job-related supplies, materials, and equipment between sites.
- Supports Town policies and philosophies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
