Kids in Crisis is Connecticut's ONLY free, round-the-clock agency providing emergency shelter, crisis counseling, and community educational programs for children of all ages and families dealing with a ride range of crises, including domestic violence, mental health, and family conflicts, substance use, economic difficulties, and more.
REPORTS TO:
Director of Outreach and Crisis Services
Crisis Services:
- Answer crisis Helpline texts and calls, providing immediate assessment of need and implement plan of action.
- Provide crisis intervention through community outreach and intake meetings.
- Provide crisis case management services to at-risk youth identified through community-based programs or consenting families.
- Assist in town-wide crisis initiatives, including postvention support.
- Engage in clinical team coordination to ensure timely and open interagency communication.
- Participate in rotational on-call coverage monthly.
- Become certified in Medication Administration per the Department of Children and Families within the first 6 months of employment.
- Provide regular outreach to identified community partners, including schools, police departments, and other social services agencies and community organizations.
- Participate in community tabling events, including sharing information about Kids in Crisis.
- Network with community agencies and attend coalition meetings.
- Engage in community education and awareness initiatives, including providing presentations and participating in work groups.
- Collect, provide and monitor for quality data through agency database (Apricot system), including Helpline notes, Outreach notes, crisis case management notes, and intake documentation.
- Monitor iCarol text line system, including updating the resource portal.
- Provide assistance for staff Helpline training, including providing mock texts and calls.
- Complete agency-wide or team professional development trainings.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related human services field.
- Minimum of two (2) years counseling or crisis intervention related experience, with youth and families.
- Bi-lingual preferred.
- Driver's license.
