About The Opportunity
This is a hands-on leadership role for a construction accounting professional who thrives in the operational side of finance. You will own the integrity of project financials — ensuring job costing accuracy, WIP reporting precision, and clean percentage-of-completion revenue recognition across active projects.
This is not a back-office GL seat. This role sits at the intersection of accounting and operations, partnering directly with Project Managers, Operations, and Executive Leadership to drive visibility and profitability across the portfolio.

Construction Cost Accounting Manager Responsibilities
Project & Job Costing Leadership
- Oversee full-cycle job cost accounting across multiple concurrent construction projects
- Ensure accurate cost coding, cost allocations, and real-time project financial visibility
- Partner with PMs to analyze budget vs. actuals, margin fade/gain, and cost forecasting
- Maintain integrity of committed costs, change orders, and subcontractor tracking
WIP & Revenue Recognition
- Prepare and review monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules
- Manage percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition
- Analyze over/under billings and backlog reporting
- Lead monthly project review meetings with operations
- Identify margin risk early and proactively escalate
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and mentor construction cost accountants or project accountants
- Elevate team performance through training and process improvement
- Foster strong cross-functional collaboration between accounting and operations
- Build scalable processes as the company continues to grow
Construction Cost Accounting Manager Qualifications
- 5+ years of construction accounting experience
- Strong expertise in WIP reporting, POC accounting, and job costing
- Deep understanding of construction billing structures.
- Experience partnering directly with Project Managers
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, multi-project environment
- Proven leadership experience (formal or informal)
- ERP experience in a construction platform preferred
