Electrical Engineer III
- Power Systems – CO (Greenwood Village, CO) – Hybrid work schedule. CLP Engineering (CLPE) is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer with a power systems background and 5+ years of experience. Due to the nature of our work as a Federal Contractor, candidates must be a US Citizen.
City Light & Power/CLP Engineering is a full-service electric utility solutions engineering firm in Denver with more than twenty years of experience in electrical utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our sister company, City Light & Power. We offer a wide range of power system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative, government, industrial, and commercial customers. Duties & Responsibilities- Assist in designing sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and commercial/industrial power distribution systems.
- Develop concept design alternatives, engineering calculations, analysis, and estimates for small-scale system improvement projects for substations and distribution systems.
- Create, update, and maintain GIS database for large-scale electrical distribution systems.
- Perform site surveys for new utility service requests, develop concept design alternatives, and present alternatives to CLPE management and the customer.
- Assist Lead Engineers with major capital upgrade projects.
- Analyze electrical fault events, power quality issues, system loading scenarios, and assist with implementing corrective actions.
- Gain and maintain intermediate knowledge of power system protection and relaying schemes for electrical distribution systems.
- Create system models for large-scale power systems in ETAP (or similar software) and perform various power system analyses/studies.
- Schedule and attend field walks with customers to understand and determine project requirements.
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university; power systems emphasis preferred.
- Familiar with power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination.
- 5–8 years of related engineering experience.
- Experience with medium voltage electrical substations and distribution systems.
- Experience with ETAP or similar software.
- Strong teamwork and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Up to 20% travel to client sites outside CO.
Other Requirements- You must be a U.S. citizen.
- You will be required to obtain Military Base Security Access Clearance.
- Valid driver
Is license required.
We offer an excellent benefits package including medical, dental, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid time off and paid holidays.
Salary range: $108,000–$138,000/year based on experience; eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan. We reserve the right to pay more or less than the posted salary range based on factors unrelated to sex.
