The SUE Project Manager will work under the direction of SUE Operations Leader and alongside the rest of the SUE team. They should possess a comprehensive knowledge of the practices and procedures to provide Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) services. The SUE Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing SUE projects in accordance with industry standards such as American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 38.
This role ensures accurate utility mapping, risk mitigation, and successful project delivery for infrastructure and construction projects. The Project Manager oversees field operations, client communication, budgeting, and quality assurance throughout all phases of SUE investigations.
Required Qualifications- Apply ASCE 38-22 standard Civil Engineering practices to assigned SUE projects.
- Responsible for the management of SUE projects and the project team
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and subcontractors
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and project resource planning
- Manage project performance, including schedule, budget, and quality of the work
- Prepare SUE plans; manage project team, including delegating tasks and ensuring compliance with project scope and schedule
- Assist with developing standards and procedures to improve project delivery.
- Education (Preferred) – B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
- Certification (Preferred) – Professional Engineer, Civil, in Colorado
- Previous Engineering experience in SUE highly preferred, Minimum of 5 years of experience in related Civil Engineering field required
- Proficient knowledge of Auto Desk and/or Micro Station Products
- Effective in the use of Microsoft Office
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and employees
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Project Management & Coordination- Manage SUE projects from proposal handoff through final delivery.
- Coordinate SUE field crews and office production staff.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients.
- Coordinate with survey teams, as required.
- Review SUE deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards and client requirements.
- Assist with QA/QC processes prior to final deliverable issuance.
- Communicate project status, risks, and changes clearly to clients and internal teams.
- Prepare project documentation, schedules, and progress updates.
- Support proposal development, scope clarification, and change management as needed.
