BSA/AML Compliance Assistant- II

LOCATION:

Responsibilities

FUNCTION

DESCRIPTION:

Conducts the day-to-day compliance activities for the credit union as they relate to the credit union’s BSA/AML Program. Works with the BSA/AML Manager and other members of the BSA team to ensure that the BSA/AML Program is consistent with executive management’s commitment to maintain a high standard of compliance with all applicable BSA/AML regulations.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma required

Training in bank/credit union BSA/compliance preferred.

Experience:

6 months experience working for a credit union or a bank.

Skills:

Excellent written/verbal communication skills and outstanding problem solving/decision-making skills.

Equipment:
Strong computer skills in office applications

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrate Bellco’s WOW philosophy in all interactions with personnel in other Bellco departments.
  • Manage the Membership Identification Program (MIP), which includes (i) review account opening compliance with MIP - consists of auditing all new members added to the system and auditing account profiles to ensure all BSA data has been obtained; (ii)
    Maintain a log of any deficiencies detected; (iii) if any deficiencies are detected, assist the branches with obtaining the necessary information; (iv) if the new member is unable to provide the necessary information or we are unable to validate the provided information, place restrictions on the account(s) to ensure we are not providing services to an individual whose identity we can’t verify;

    and (v) follow up on a periodic basis with any deficiencies remaining in the log.
  • Review reports for expired documentation (e.g., W-8

    BEN and VISA’s).
  • Perform enhanced due diligence for Business Members, including beneficial owners as a backup when needed.
  • Review sampling of signature cards to ensure proper documentation.
  • Daily review of BSA lockout report to ensure proper administration and removal of any BSA lockouts.
  • Review and evaluate Money Laundering Alerts (as needed) - Review Verafin generated alerts to conclude if a case needs to be opened, behaviors need to be adjusted or alert cleared as normal activity. If a case needs to be opened, ensure that the Compliance Analyst responsible for BSA/AML compliance is notified, and support the investigation and filing process.
  • Assist with other miscellaneous areas of BSA/AML compliance as needed.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.

May require driving a personal or company vehicle in the routine performance of the job.
