HIRING RANGE: Fleet Mechanic I: $25.35 - $30.25 per hour Fleet Mechanic II: $28.05 - $33.69 per hourCommensurate to experience.

About the RoleThe Fleet Mechanic I and II positions are essential to keeping Greenwood Village moving. You’ll perform major and minor mechanical repairs on internal combustion and diesel engines, diagnose vehicle issues, and maintain a variety of maintenance equipment. If you enjoy problem-solving, working with your hands, and ensuring vehicles and equipment run safely and efficiently, this is the role for you!
What You’ll Do- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on City vehicles and equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and emission testing.
- Operate shop machinery and tools, including lathes, presses, grinders, and welding equipment.
- Document repairs and maintain accurate service records.
- Manage parts inventory and coordinate with vendors for purchases.
- Assist with specialized fabrication and welding (Mechanic II).
- Support emergency operations and snow/ice control when needed.
Mechanic I
- 0–2 years of automotive mechanical repair experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
- Ability to obtain a valid Class “B” CDL within 180 days.
- Strong troubleshooting and repair skills.
- 2+ years of automotive mechanical repair experience.
- ASE Certification, Emissions License Certification, and A/C 609 Certification.
- Ability to meet DOT inspector qualifications.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Equivalent to an associate’s degree in automotive repair or related field.
- Knowledge of internal combustion and diesel engines.
- Ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical systems.
- Proficiency with shop tools and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work is performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. This position may require evenings, weekends, and overtime during emergencies. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual labor is required.
