- Designed Pressure Vessels using Solidworks to fit customers' needs using different parts: flanges, manways, pipes, shells, heads, paint etc. under different Pressure/Temperatures
- Used AutoCAD to make DXF's of shells cut for factory machines
- Updated dimensions/notes on drawings
- Updated calcs for testing pressure, temperature, thickness, and stress
- Answered questions about drawings to factory workers
- Communicated with customers through Drawing Submittals
- Answer questions for shop floor folks as needed (blue collar)
- Tanks could be 10 inch up to 12 foot, 84 inch diameter
- Client does air/water separators, filters, bladder tanks, HVAC and filtration projects
- Data center business has exploded. Added new expansion in Tiffin, OH
- Sub some work out they can’t handle
- ASME section 8- has software that does the calculations
- Design and develop custom ASME Section VIII pressure vessels, tanks, and components for HVAC, industrial, and municipal applications.
- Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using Solid Works, ensuring compliance with ASME and JIS standards.
- Utilize AutoCAD to generate DXF files for shell cuts and factory machining processes.
- Perform and update calculations for pressure, temperature, thickness, and stress analysis using specialized ASME software.
- Collaborate closely with production teams to ensure manufacturability, quality, and on-time delivery.
- Communicate directly with customers through drawing submittals and provide technical support to sales and project teams.
- Address questions and provide guidance to shop floor personnel in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
- Update and maintain documentation to ensure full traceability throughout the design and fabrication process.
- Design vessels ranging from 10 inches to 12 feet in size (up to 84 inches in diameter) for air/water separators, filters, bladder tanks, and other HVAC/filtration systems.
- Support company growth initiatives, including expansion projects (e.g., Tiffin, OH facility) and managing outsourced fabrication work.
- Recognized for attention to detail, analytical problem-solving, and a curious, hands‑on approach to continuous improvement.
- 5-8 YOE in a design role, focused and using Solid Works
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Engineering, Design, or related
- BOM creation and utilization of ERP system
- Experience in 3D modeling and design
- Likes “nerdy” people- someone that builds computers, into cars, into video games
- Manager came from automotive and aerospace- A+ candidate would be from fab shop, dealing w/ structural and/or metal assemblies
- Analytical, curious and attention to detail
- Previous experience in a fab shop (dirty, welding, machinery)
- Ability to go on the floor and answer questions as needed
