We are seeking an experienced Special Investigator specializing in cyber / online investigations to conduct complex investigations involving cybercrime, digital fraud, data breaches, crypto fraud, in-depth internet presence, data geo-mapping, and other technology-enabled misconduct.
This position conducts end-to-end investigations, preserves and analyzes digital evidence, coordinates with internal and external partners, and produces clear, defensible findings suitable for administrative, civil, or criminal proceedings.
The ideal candidate combines advanced investigative judgment with strong knowledge of OSINT, digital forensics, applicable laws, and complex special investigations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Conduct investigations including complex special cyber investigations involving fraud, theft, internet presence, data geo-mapping, crypto currency , and misconduct.
- Develop investigative strategies, identify evidence sources, establish timelines, and pursue relevant digital and traditional investigative leads.
- Collect, preserve, document, and analyze digital evidence in accordance with legal requirements, chain-of-custody procedures, and forensic best practices.
- Review system logs, authentication records, email activity, network traffic, cloud-platform data, endpoint artifacts, financial records, and other relevant information.
- Conduct interviews of complainants, witnesses, subjects, technical personnel, and other involved parties.
- Use open-source intelligence and authorized investigative tools to identify threat actors, infrastructure, relationships, and patterns of activity.
- Assess the scope, impact, attribution, and root cause of cyber incidents while distinguishing verified facts from analytical judgments.
- Prepare comprehensive investigative reports, executive briefings, affidavits, referrals, and supporting documentation in a timely manner.
- Present findings to leadership, counsel, regulators, prosecutors, or other authorized stakeholders, via telephone, video conference, or in-person.
- Provide testimony or expert support in administrative, civil, or criminal proceedings when required.
- Maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and security of sensitive investigative information.
- Stay current on cybercrime methods, emerging technologies, digital-forensic practices, and relevant legal and regulatory developments.
- Significant professional experience conducting complex investigations, including substantial experience with cybercrime, digital fraud, internet pretense, data geo-mapping and digital evidence.
- Demonstrated ability to independently plan, manage, and document sensitive investigations from initial allegation through final disposition.
- Working knowledge of digital forensics, incident response, computer networks, operating systems, cloud
- Strong interviewing, analytical, research, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to interpret technical findings and communicate them clearly to technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Knowledge of applicable privacy, surveillance, evidence, disclosure, and data-protection requirements.
- Knowledge in conducting a variety of Special Investigations to include, locates, background, social media, geo-mapping, crypto, and more.
- Sound judgment, discretion, objectivity, and the ability to manage competing priorities under time-sensitive conditions.
- Ability to qualify for and maintain any required background investigation, security clearance, license, or professional designation.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience in cybersecurity, digital forensics, criminal justice, computer science, intelligence studies, accounting, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience in Special Investigations, cyber-Investigations, geo-mapping, OSINT Investigations, fraud investigation, crypto intelligence,or a similarly complex environment.
- Experience with forensic platforms, investigative platforms , customer-management systems,or case-management systems.
- Experience investigating cryptocurrency transactions, dark-web activity, business email compromise, organized cybercrime, or cross-border incidents.
